Marlene + Terry | 10.9.10

Marlene and Terry's Saturday wedding turned out to be a beautiful fall celebration. The Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake was the perfect backdrop for the amazing event! I loved all of the little details that pulled their fall themed wedding together. The pumpkins, the flowers, the cake, the colors. This wedding was chock full of so many fabulous details that I had to share. I truly hope that they enjoyed their wedding as much as I did. Congrats! ~Laura

2010 HOLIDAY MINI PORTRAIT SESSIONS!

It's that time of year again! Time to start thinking about the upcoming holiday season. Mini Portrait sessions make great gifts and fabulous personalized holiday greeting cards.

Starting today through the middle of December I am offering personal portrait sessions at the discounted sitting fee price of $99.00. These sessions last about 45 minutes and include private online proofing and purchasing as well as 20% off all portrait products and personalized holiday greeting cards.

Each year, I build a limited edition holiday portrait set at the studio. This year is no exception and will surely not disappoint. If you would prefer a fall color location session, I know dozens of spots around the city where the changing leaves add seasonal flair to your photographs. I am always willing to travel and would be happy to meet at your house for a even more personal approach.

Custom art holiday cards add a personal touch to the holiday season. Each card measures 5x7 and can be flat or folded. I am happy to announce that the paper has changed from previous years and is much nicer and is of better quality. Prices for the greeting cards have NOT changed from previous years and are now 20% off through the middle of December. There is a minimum order of 25 cards per order but you are welcome to order as many as you need after that. All cards come with matching envelopes and once your order is placed, printing and delivery can take up to 2 weeks. Please contact me for additional information about the holiday cards.

Emily + Shaun | 10.2.10 | The Wit Hotel Chicago, Il

John Lennon was once quoted as saying, "It matters not who you love, where you love, why you love, when you love or how you love. It only matters that you love." People fall in love everyday, Love keeps my studio open, it keeps me working and is the reason behind the images that I capture. My number one goal, when shooting any wedding is to document the Love.
Love is the Story.
I have posted a few of my favorite photographs from Emily and Shaun's love story below. Truly a magical and musical couple.
Thank you for reminding me that all we really do need is love. ~Laura

Julia's Bat Mitzvah | 9.25.10

According to Jewish law, when Jewish children reach 13 years old for boys and 12 years old for girls they become responsible for their actions, and "become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah" (English: Daughter (Bat) or Son(Bar) of the commandments). Julia and her family asked me document her coming of age celebration on Saturday evening, and since this was my first Mitzvah I honestly didn't know what to expect. The dinner and dance celebrations were very much like any wedding that I have ever photographed and I wanted to document the event photojournalistically versus traditionally with backdrops and posed images. Actually, that is exactly what they wanted. A story. Julia's story and I was more then happy to provide it. I have to say that this was a fun new adventure for me.
Something else on the books.
Congrats to Julia and The Mati Family! Mazzol Tov! ~Laura
